19TH ANNUAL EID-UL-ADHA DINNER ON OCTOBER  22, 2013

This year again, the celebrations were held at the Government Conference Centre, 2 Rideau Street, as Room 200 in West Block is under renovations.  The City of Ottawa was the Award Recipient.  A beautiful engraved plaque was presented to the City of Ottawa.  Deputy Mayor Eli El-Chantiry received the plaque on behalf of  Mayor Jim Watson who was visiting China.  The plaque had the following inscription :

Dr. Andrew Bennett, Ambassador, Office of Religious Freedom gave the Keynote Address.  He was presented with Sandulak's Spirit Bear.

Retired Chief of York Regional Police, Armand La Barge,  was the Master of Ceremonies.  The National Anthem in both English and French was sung by Mr. Craig Kennedy, Senior Protocol and Visits Analyst, RCMP.  The Opening Dua was by Imam Mohamad Jebara of the Codova Academy of Ottawa.  The welcome was by APMC's President Mobeen Khaja and Hon. John McKay, M.P. (Liberal Party of Canada).

There were many guests from the Diplomatic Corps, Members of Parliament from all political parties, City Councillors, Police Services, RCMP and many organizations located in Ottawa,.
