TORONTO CITY HALL EID CELEBRATIONS ON DECEMBER 7,  2009

 

The 4th celebration was held on Monday, December 7, 2009.  A special award was presented to Nazem Kadri, an exceptional ice hockey player who lives in London, Ontario, and may soon be playing in the NHL - National Hockey League..  He played for the Kitchener Rangers from 2006 till 2008 and has been playing for the London Knights since then.  He was Toronto Maple Leaf's 1st Round Selection and was placed 7th in the National Hockey League  Draft in Montreal, Quebec, in June 2009. 

Nazem was presented with Sandulak's polar bear sculpture and a plaque to celebrate and recognize his "remarkable achievement in the field of Ice Hockey, our National Sport".  Mr. Bob Delaney, M.P.P., Mississauga-Streetsville, and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Tourism, also presented Nazem with a Certificate in recognition of his achievements.              

Councillor Suzan Hall was the emcee as she has been in the past.  The celebrations were held in the Rotunda.  Dilshaan Panjwani led the National Anthem.
