TENTH ANNUAL CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS. The 10th annual celebrations were held in Room 200, West Block, Parliament Hill. In addition to the change in location, Canada Day and the Independence Day of the United States of America were celebrated together and underscored the good relations between the two countries.. His Excellency David Wilkins, Ambassador for the United States was the Keynote Speaker and the Award Recipient. He was recognized for his "efforts in reaching out to all Canadians from coast to coast to coast to further strengthen the relationship between Canada and the United States of America". A plaque and Sandulak's polar bear sculpture were presented to Ambassador Wilkins Mr. Kevin Vickers, Sergeant-at-Arms, House of Commons made a very special presentation of the flag from the Peace Tower. It was in a beautiful wooden box with the House of Commons emblem on it. Honourable Jason Kenny, Secretary of State Multiculturism and Canadian Identity, was the Chief Guest. Two cakes, one for Canada's birthday with the Canadian flag and the second one with the American flag, were cut to celebrate the occasions. Dilshaan Panjwani sang both National Anthems. She also presented Ambassador Wilkins with a scroll of the 110th Resolution of the US Congress passed unanimously in October 2007. The resolution recognized that the month of Ramadhan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar.
