SIXTH OTTAWA CITY HALL IFTAR DINNER - JUNE 14, 2017

The sixth Iftar dinner was part of the Canada 150 celebrations and a special cake was cut by Mayor Jim Watson, the Guest of Honour and all those who wanted to join him in doing so.  This year, Councillor Michael Qaqish joined the Iftar with more than 30 guests from his ward. Several elected representatives from all levels of government and from the Diplomatic Corps attended.   

The event was supported by His Worship Mayor Jim Watson, Mrs. Tina Sarellas, Regional President, Ontario North and East Region,  RBC Royal Bank, TD Bank, Goldy Hyder, President and CEO of Hill + Knowlton Strategies, and Councillor Michael Qaqish. 

President Mobeen Khaja welcomed the guests and thanked Mayor Jim Watson, and the sponsors for their ongoing support. 

Mrs. Tina Sarellas, brought greetings from the Royal Bank of Canada, as did Pietro Borracci, District Vice President for TD Bank, and Ms. Rahmat Kassam, Senior Consultant for Hill + Knowlton Strategies.

Hon. Maryam Monsef, Minister Status of Women, Hon. Ahmed Hussen, Minister Immigration Refugees Citizenship, Senator Mobina Jaffer, Hon. Thomas Mulcair, Leader of the New Democratic Party, Cathy Wagantall, MP Yorkton Melville, Nathalie Des Rosiers, MPP Ottawa-Vanier, Councillor Michael Qaqish and Superintendent Mark Ford, Ottawa Police also brought greetings.                                  

 Retired Chief Armand La Barge was the emcee for the evening.
