FIFTH OTTAWA CITY HALL IFTAR DINNER - JUNE 13, 2016 Mayor Jim Watson was the Guest of Honour at the fifth Iftar dinner that was held on June 13, 2016 in the Jean Pigott Hall at the Ottawa City Hall. However, he could not attend because of passing away of his father a day earlier. Mrs. Vicki Heyman, wife of U.S.A.'s Ambassador to Canada was the Keynote Speaker. She said that this was the first Iftar dinner she was ever invited to and attended. She was delighted to be presented with Sandulak's bear. Both she and Ambassador Heyman stayed for the whole evening and everyone had a chance to speak with them. Her speech was very touching and you can read it by clicking here. Retired Chief Armand La Barge was the emcee for the evening. The dinner was again well attended by the Diplomatic Corps and Heads of various organizations and institutions. The event was supported by His Worship Mayor Jim Watson, Mrs. Tina Sarellas, Regional President, Ontario North and East Region, RBC Royal Bank, TD Bank and Goldy Hyder, President and CEO of Hill + Knowlton Strategies. President Mobeen Khaja welcomed the guests and thanked Mayor Jim Watson, and the sponsors for their ongoing support. Mrs. Tina Sarellas, brought greetings from the Royal Bank of Canada, Mr. Ahmed Al-hakak for TD Bank and Mr. Goldy Hyder for Hill + Knowlton Strategies. Some photos from the event.
